ARTIST BIO
Chris is interested in the notion of hardship. He explores, throughout his work, tensions created by the burden of hardship and its interplay with the imperative to survive and live a purposeful life.
His intimate and evocative portraits are presented in refreshing honesty, making the struggles presented more plausible, and the reaction to them more empathetic.
BREATHE, his debut, touring exhibition about women widowed from the affects of asbestos, evokes a real sense of empathy and compassion. This is achieved despite the generational barriers that would usually exist between Chris and his older subjects.
The media, arts communities and general public have all warmed to this world first exhibition. Chris has been featured on the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald, SBS World News, ABC Radio, and he was invited to appear as a panelist on Floortalk at the Australian Centre for Photography where BREATHE officially opened in July 2009.
Capture magazine profiled Chris, after he was voted by his professional peers as one of the top 3 Australian Emerging Photographers.
His upcoming work is taking him on adventures abroad and will exhibit in 2010.
Chris is represented in Australia for advertising and editorial commissions by POOL. He recently married and lives with his wife in Sydney.
